Celtic were left to rue their missed opportunities and defensive mistakes against Glanville on Sunday Morning. Played in near perfect conditions at RiverCity Sports complex the bhoys will wonder how a game they dominated from start to finish ended in a 3-3 Tie. Celtic started the game well with the whole team moving the ball Confidently and in Unison. This would soon pay off when after about 20 minutes Lacey and Farrel linked up only for a Glanville defender and the the on rushing keeper to up end Farrel in the Box. The referee pointed to the Spot which Lacey stepped up and dispatched low to the Keepers Right. Celtic continued to push at this point and a guilt edged miss from Celtic after some terrific passing was followed by a terrific Save by the Glanville Keeper from Point Blank range from a Matt Lacey Header. The bhoys seemed to take there foot of the gas and against the run of play Glanville found themselves through on Goal. A Clash between keeper defender and the forward resulted in the referee pointing to the Spot from which Glanville leveled proceedings. Celtic started the Second half just how they started the first. A slight shuffle to the Mid-field seen Wolfe on the right wing where he continued to cause problems. Casajuanna restored the lead after Celtic broke down the right wing, the ball was squared across goal from where Casajuanna tucked the ball home. Again Celtic seemed to turn off after their hardwork and Confusion amoung the defense allowed Glanville in on goal to level the game up. The goal against the run of play seen a 10 minute period of Madness. The referees assitant made his fourth incorrect off side call in a row which then seen the Celtic Coach sent outside the pitch with no Card been brandished this was then followed by another momentary lapse in the Celtic Defense which allowed Glanville to take the lead. This kicked Celtic back into gear and with about 5 minutes on the clock a goal mouth Scramble seen Ruaridh McNicol poke the ball home through an array of bodies in the Glanville box. Goal - Baybutt
Petes Mom held strong on a Blustery Wednesday Night at Dorey Park as the Pink Panthers squandered a host of chances to walk away with a single point when all three where within Grasp. The Field itself looked more like an Idaho Potato Field and at times the ball bounced more like a Rugby ball than a Soccer ball. The standard of play was definatly affected with Pinks Striker Joe Farrell been quoted as saying "The Worst Pitch hes Played On". The Pinks Started the Game pretty lively trying to string a Few passes together despite the field, with Gil and Duffiled pulling the Strings from Midfield. After about 20 minutes Petes Mom was finally Penetrated after a cross from Murdoch on the Right wing was headed home for Player/ Manager Andy Baybutts first Goal of the Season. The Joy was Evident on Baybutts face and it seemed hed done this to Petes Mom before. Petes Mom responded after a Poor attempted clearance put the Pinks on the back foot and Petes Mom equalised. The Pinks did manage to Set a world record for throw ins during the first half. The second half was a Pinks Onslaught with Chance after Chance been Sqaundered, McCloskey, Cooke, Gil and Farrel all guilty of missing great chances, in their defence the conditions of the field did not help. The Pinks back two pairing of Ford and Geissel held strong and Petes Mom only real opportunity seen the ever reliable Pinks Keeper Will McClung pull of a Superb save when the ball was destined for the Top Corner. When the final whistle came the Pinks had to Settle for the Point, and will surely look at the result as two points dropped. The Pinks take on FC Nuclear this Sunday were they will be aiming to take all 3 points.
